Survival of the fittest among mobile phones? The Siemens S35i would sure be among the successful species...
Pros: internet function, very strong battery, well-structured menu
Cons: no TriBand device
I more or less got my Siemens S35i by coincidence, since I signed a new contract with a provider without having the slightest idea about which mobile phone to choose with the contract. After being advised by a shop assistant I bought the Siemens S35i, I had no idea about what could be done with the Siemens S35i at that point.
If you look at the Siemens S35i form the outside only, you can't really tell that there is a difference between the Siemens S35i and the Siemens S35. However when you look at the technical data of those two phones, quite a discrepancy can be found.
Optically the Siemens S35i is identical with the Siemens S35, only that their 'interior' is just so very differing. The Siemens S35i is a black phone with dimensions of 118x46x12 mm and it weighs exactly 99 g. Lately the Siemens S35i is also available in a silver edition. The Siemens S35i is entirely symmetric, only possible by integrating the antenna. The Siemens S35i is nicely rounded off on its edges and therefore has a soft, swung form. The screen of the Siemens S35i glimmers in a weak green colour and covers about five lines. You can find the common information on battery and network on the display, furthermore there are quicklinks to the main menu and telephone book displayed on the screen. In comparison to other mobile phones, the keys of the Siemens S35i are rather big, a great advantage when writing messages and of course when entering phone numbers.
Due to a clearly structured menu and an intelligent guidance through the menu, the Siemens S35i has a high ease of use. Several quicklinks come in particularly handy. The Siemens S35i should be easily operated by just anybody, of course some kind of puzzlement will take place when operating the Siemens S35i for the first time, however it won't take too long to get used to the Siemens S35i.
The Siemens S35i is equipped with a long-lilving lithium-ion-battery, which is a vibration alarm as well. Charging the Siemens S35i will take two hours max. Once fully charged, the Siemens S35i will bear up with a stand-by time of 220 hours or a talk time of six hours.
The Siemens S35i is a Dual Band phone, whose telephone book covers up to 350 entries, depending on the SIM-card, which can be arranged in different groups. Special ringer tones can be chosen for VIP-entries so as you already know who is calling by hearing the ringer tone.
20 messages can be saved in the inbox of the Siemens S35i, again depending on the SIM-card, and the Siemens S35i is equipped with the T9 predicitve text software, which enables quick editing of messages.
When chosing the ringer melodies, the user has the choice between 42 different melodies and for the very creative people among us there is even a feature for composing your very own melodies that can later be saved on the Siemens S35i. Furthermore there are several logos to be found on the Siemens S35i which can be sent via SMS as well and there are several games as well in the Siemens S35i.
My personal favorite about the Siemens S35i is its organizer function, which even features an internet-function. First of all, the organizer of the Siemens S35i. It allows to access a planner, a calendar, a calculator. I value this function very much, since this is one of the rare features which is acutally of some use. Whoever wants to administer datas on the Siemens S35i should additionally look at the internet-function of the Siemens S35i. Simple data can be transferred via infrared from mobile to mobile, however, more complex data should be handled via the w@p-browser of the Siemens S35i. This function is expensive indeed but does come in handy.
Last but not least, the reception - and sound quality of the Siemens S35i. Especially in terms of these functions the Siemens S35i does perform very well. I am really glad, that the shop assistant managed to convince me to buy the Siemens S35i. Even if my signal is very weak, the Siemens S35i tries to cope with this difficulty, I wouldn't know what else to expect from a mobile phone. It's the very same with the sound quality of the Siemens S35i.
Evidentally buying the Siemens S35i was anything else than a mistake. The performance of the Siemens S35i, its numerous practical features are just too impressive. The Siemens S35i is the most suitable mobile phone for just anybody, no matter whether house-wife, business-man or teenager!!
