Test report and technical data Siemens SX45
The combi-mobile from Siemens with jabber-repression: the smart Siemens SX45!
Positive about the Siemens SX45: great processing, high-contrast colour display, expandable memory via Compact-Flash and Mutlimedia-Card
Negative about the Siemens SX45: too fat and heavy (302 g), not enough functions for making phone calls (making calls is only possible via headset)
Anyone is allowed to take a shot at the new market segment, even Siemens with its brand new smartphone, the Siemens SX45.
However we are still missing the right mixture of organizer and mobile phone in this new segment, since even the Siemens SX45 has to face quite some difficulties. The emphasis of the Siemens SX45 is clearly put on the communication via internet and via electronic notebook, the calling functions of the Siemens SX45 do lack quite a bit.
Regrettably there are several things about the Siemens SX45 I just don't understand. First of all, how am I supposed to have the Siemens SX45 at hand when someone calls me, since I surely won't be carrying the 302 g-heavy Siemens SX45 in any of my pockets. Then, even worse, I would have to adjust the headset to the Siemens SX45 before being able to answer incoming phone calls. I guess all the Siemens SX45 users must have tons of missed calls, since its simply impossible to react that fast, u'll be hung up on before being able to answer the calls, unless u try to join a picking up-incoming-calls-marathon. Some more or less important business calls will surely be missed due to the complex handling of phone calls with the Siemens SX45.
Another disadvantage of the Siemens SX45: the Siemens SX45 is sadly not equipped with an integrated hands-free speaking system.
I always have to empty my hands before lifting the clunky chump of Siemens SX45, since the Siemens SX45 is way too fat.
Perfectly suiting the dullness of the Siemens SX45: vibratory features completely missing in the Siemens SX45, they surely wouldn't do any damage to the Siemens SX45.
The Siemens SX45 is available in seven different colours.
Some weaknesses about the Siemens SX45 are to be discovered as well in terms of the voice-dialing function of the Siemens SX45, since this function is not to be found at all in the menu of the Siemens SX45!
The conclusion of the comfort of the Siemens SX45 is not all to good, the Siemens SX45 doesn't really seem to like interhuman communication.
For some a disadvantage, for others a pleasure: the organizer function of the Siemens SX45. For frequent flyers among u guys, u can even use the organizer of the Siemens SX45 in the plane, since the antenna of the Siemens SX45 can be unplugged.
The Siemens SX45 manages to get a little plus due to is organizer functions: Microsoft Money, Pocket Outlook, Pocket Excel, Pocket Word and Windows Media Player are already preinstalled on the Siemens SX45. Thus the smartphone Siemens SX45 offers important applications for the business- and entertainment use. Synchronizing the Siemens SX45 with MS Outlook and Lotus Organizer via the USB-interface of the Siemens SX45 functions surprisingly well and fast. After all the Siemens SX45 has GPRS and a java-engine!
But: the lacking T9-software does a lot of damage to the Siemens SX45.
Operating the combi-mobile is quite a puzzlement: the Siemens SX45 is meant to be operated via its pen and touchscreen, however it can as well be operated via its key on the front of the design. This makes a fast and easy access of the calendar and phone book of the Siemens SX45 possible.
Positive as well: with a scrolling button on the side of the Siemens SX45 navigating in the menu of the Siemens SX45 is made really easy.
The high-contrast TFT-colour-touch-screen is something to compliment the Siemens SX45 on, that's truly a progressive innovation. There are A40 foils, which are placed beneath the transparent cover of the display of the Siemens SX45. These foils do offer some variety. There are already several foils integrated in the delivery of the Siemens SX45, some of them are empty foils, which can be designed personally.
Resume of the Siemens SX45:
All in all there is a balance between advantages and disadvantages of the Siemens SX45. Rather an ambivalent smartphone, the Siemens SX45, which perfectly demonstrates the weaknesses of the new market segment. That's why I don't really know, whether I could recommend u guys the Siemens SX45...rather not.
