I don't want to beat around the bush in my report about the Ericsson R380S; I'm just going to tell you about my experience with the Ericsson R380S.
Besides the functions of calling and SMS, the Ericsson R380S is also internet capable. This used to be difficult, but has become really easy. Even I managed to operate the functions of the Ericsson R380S after a short time.
When you fold down the keypad (that's what the input field is called), the display of the Ericsson R380S appears, measuring 3 x 8 cm. With the keypad you can create different messages quickly, and send them as SMS, fax or e-mail. The email-client function of the Ericsson R380S makes sure your message reaches the right address.
In addition to these useful features the Ericsson R380S has a couple of other functions, like vibratory alarm, which I personally keep activated most of the time, since the ringer tones of the Ericsson R380S are getting on my nerves and I haven't found a melody I like so far.
The Ericsson R380S also has voice dialing which is actually self-explanatory I think, the only thing I can say about it is that it's very practical and works well. The Ericsson R380S is also equipped with an infrared-interface and, not to be forgotten, a WAP-browser with an unbeatable graphic quality in the Ericsson R380S.
Unfortunately, the Ericsson R380S doesn't have an html-editor, but the next model probably will have this extra. Among other accessories the Ericsson R380S comes with a cable for connection your Ericsson R380S to a PC or laptop.
I have compared the Ericsson R380S with the Nokia communicator, a model that has about the same functions as the Ericsson R380S. But considering size and handiness the Ericsson R380S is far better than the Nokia, and therefore won my little test.
Due to its size and weight of 169g the Ericsson R380S will fit into any pocket, unlike the Nokia communicator. Getting the Ericsson R380S is worthwhile in any case. Also because of the balanced value for money of the Ericsson R380S.
But because only a few people already have the Ericsson R380S I would advice you to wait to buy the Ericsson R380S for a little while, and get some other opinions, for example from a salesperson.
I'm very enthusiastic about the Ericsson R380S, but I’m not a hand phone expert.
