Test report and technical data Ericsson T29S
The Ericsson T29S - a mobile with an exotic touch!
Plus of the Ericsson T29S: many functions, good battery
Minus of the Ericsson T29S: complicated SMS function, no modem in the Ericsson T29S
Some time ago my dad asked me to get him a new hand phone, because he's very busy and traveling a lot. He wanted a model with a good battery and good quality of reception and sound. Design is very important to him as well. It shouldn't be a mobile for Joe Doe.
I did a lot of research through a friend who works in a hand phone shop. After a few models that didn't interest me he showed me the Ericsson T29S, which had the boxy design typical for Ericsson, but with an exotic touch.
Must be because of the thick antenna and the flap over the keypad of the Ericsson T29S, which is half the size of the whole phone. Since the Ericsson T29S has a Li-ion battery weighs only 104 g, in spite of its bulkiness.
I finally bought the Ericsson T29S for my dad, and he wasn't only satisfied with the design of the Ericsson T29S, but also with the sound quality, even in areas of bad reception.
The super-powerful battery of the Ericsson T29S has a standby time of 160 hours and will last amazing 51 hours under "stop and go" usage. I knew my dad would never use the SMS function already before I bought the Ericsson T29S, so I didn't care that the Ericsson T29S doesn't have a text-input assistance.
The WAP-function of the Ericsson T29S is very convenient, because you can always get the newest stock exchange rates, no matter where you are. And, not to forget, the hands-free function of the Ericsson T29S, a real must-have when you have to drive and talk at the same time.
This was one of the most important aspects, aside from the good battery and the reception, to buy this mobile phone for my dad.
A function a lot less interesting for my father are the four games of the Ericsson T29S, which aren't that good compared to Nokia. With the Ericsson T29S you can choose from 15 existing and 8 self-composed ringer tones.
The only thing that my father doesn't like about the Ericsson T29S is the missing modem and infrared-interface. Voice memos would have been very useful to him, but that features is not available in the Ericsson T29S.
The price of the Ericsson T29S will be around 350€ without a contract. I don't know the exact price because my father got the Ericsson T29S for free due to the combination with the contract from the shop.
Although the Ericsson T29S lacks some features my dad is very satisfied with me having chosen the Ericsson T29S for him, and the Ericsson T29S has already served him well on his business trips last month.
