Test report and technical data Trium Cosmo
Trium Cosmo - the space egg
Pros of Trium Cosmo: small, handy
Cons of Trium Cosmo: weak battery
As every year, my family and I had a party for Easter where we hid eggs all over the backyard.
I found Trium Cosmo! What this intergalactic egg and I have experienced together I will tell you now.
First of all you should know that Trium Cosmo is manufactured by Mitsubishi. I do not know why they made up the name Trium.
Trium Cosmo is with its 69 g a super light-weight. It is also small with its dimensions of 103 x 51 x 16 mm. The appearance of Trium Cosmo really reminds me somewhat of an egg with antenna.
Trium Cosmo's keypad is protected by a flap, but one can view the battery efficiency, the time and the date at all times.
Trium Cosmo is colored blue and grey, its back is black. There is a kind of joystick that sticks out of the flap in order to answer and end call with Trium Cosmo. Unfolded, Trium Cosmo is unfortunately a little bulky.
On one side of the device, there is a button to regulate the volume of Trium Cosmo. The writing on Trium Cosmo's screen is too small, but the high resolution compensates for this.
As mentioned above, there is a joystick to go through the menu. One has to spend some time with Trium Cosmo to get accommodated with it; a mere intuitive handling of Trium Cosmo is not possible. So the instruction manual is of great support: It is well arranged and easily understood.
Trium Cosmo is a Dual Band device that provides space in its phone book for 200 entries, the memory capacity of the SIM card excluded. The messaging function of Trium Cosmo is supported by T9 text construction software which has to be activated first.
Via Trium Cosmo's WAP browser one can surf the net or use certain services of the provider. More professional user will also like the infra red interface. Furthermore, Trium Cosmo features an integrated fax- and data modem.
I do not want to miss the reminder function of Trium Cosmo. Up to twenty entries can be saved here. One can also add a ringer tone to these dates.
Trium Cosmo's vibratory alert could be stronger; one can barely feel it.
Speaking of Trium Cosmo's disadvantages: The battery will only last 80 hours in stand - by mode and only two hours when you are actually talking. One cannot brag about these facts!
But then, Trium Cosmo has got a lot of standard functions, such as games, a regular and a currency calculator, several different ringing tones and a melody editor.
There is nothing to complain about regarding Trium Cosmo's reception quality. This is not true though for its sound quality. The sound with Trium Cosmo is dull and even on the highest volume level, it is still too quiet.
Mitsubishi really laid a golden egg with Trium Cosmo. Here, I am referring to its price which is comparatively high!
I can recommend Trium Cosmo only to those who are crazy about design. Trium Cosmo's weak battery and bad sound quality degrade its overall impression.
To me, Trium Cosmo is a late April’s fool's joke. Oh well, at least it did not cost me anything...
