Test report and technical data Nokia 810

A small preview on the secret hero of the CeBIT 2003: Nokia 810!

Plus of Nokia 810: WAP-Browser, T9 text input, polyphonic ringer tones, HSCSD- and GPRS-assisted

Minus of Nokia 810: questionable whether it will ever be available in Europe

We saw the Nokia 810 for the very first time in its dimensionally stable cover, its display blinking iceblue-ish, demonstrating a relaxed attitude in a gleam of silver. THE typical Nokia look and I hope not to be seeing it for the last time. It's hard to forget Nokia 810 again once you've seen it, be warned. Traveling up to Hannover to the CeBit with my pals Stephen and Jake was definitely worth it!

The Nokia 810 car phone is explicitly designed for the car environment. Emphasizing its ease of use, Nokia 810 employs a specially developed interface and advanced technology.

Jake got out of hospital just a couple of days before we left, he had a nasty car crash due to distraction behind the wheel, his girl-friend dumped him on the phone and he was somewhat upset. Well, what I suggested was, to get Nokia 810 immediately. In case another of his girl-friends would eventually decide on breaking up with him while he was driving, the chance of ending up in a crash would be a lot smaller when using a specially designed car phone.

Nokia 810 would even be easy to use whilst cruising through Downtown Manhatten. Nokia 810 includes not only a headset and a special handset featuring to most important keys, but also a Navi™ wheel, in order to avoid accidents! Voice dialing and voice commands, voice recording and playing voice memos are taken for granted with Nokia 810.

Jake completely fell for the idea, so we decided on driving to Hannover to the technology exhibition CeBit. It was then, when we sat all packed up in the car, that we learned, that Nokia planned on releasing Nokia 810 in Asia only, at least for the time being. However we still wanted to take a look at Nokia 810, since we were already half way in Hannover, although Jake was really furious and took emigrating to Asia into consideration.

Since we drove quite a while till Hannover, we had a lot of time to talk about Nokia 810 and inform ourselves about further features and data of Nokia 810.

My first reaction to the technical figures of Nokia 810: "Damn, baby!". High speed data transfer via Bluetooth and GPRS, wireless downloading of contact information from a compatible phone and so much more!

The seamless transfer from one SIM-card to another gives Nokia 810 a great touch of flexibility, since you can hereby combine the data of your normal mobile with Nokia 810 car phone. That's something that does come in really useful! For that matter Nokia 810 is of course equipped with a mighty huge memory capacity! In addition to that Nokia 810 offers support for two user profiles, including contacts, voice tags and personal settings...

Now it shall be most evident why Nokia 810 is so very well equipped with data transfer tools, it's all about combining your standard mobile with the car phone Nokia 810 ... and of course vice versa.

Furthermore Nokia 810 is a dual-band mobile phone: EGSM 900- and GSM 900/1800 are the most popular areas the Nokia 810 is beaming through with an excellent reception quality.

A high-resolution screen, separately installed on Nokia 810, displays big fonts and has an extraordinary image-quality. Additionally, of course, Nokia 810 does as well offer a state of the art color screen, with tons of lively colors.

And a special feature indeed: Nokia 810 has an amazing sound system, which would have made our car radio completely dispensable on our way back home. We would've grooved our entire way back home... if only we would've been able to buy Nokia 810 already now!

But there was some damn good news indeed; Nokia seems to have changed its mind and plans on selling Nokia 810 on the European market as well! At least that's what we've heard from some insiders.

To conclude our first review of the abilities of the Nokia 810, we can state, that Nokia 810 is a car mobile phone for the next generation: Nokia 810 features all technological features, one could possibly need.

Nokia 810 stands for enhanced cruising safety, but also for entertainment while doing so, just look at its talking options and sound performance!
