Test report and technical data Alcatel One Touch 535
A combination of starter phone and high-tech, the colorful eye-catcher Alcatel One Touch 535.
Plus of the Alcatel One Touch 535: color display, MMS, GPRS
Minus of the Alcatel One Touch 535: no digicam (available as accessory though)
Only a few of us have actually held the Alcatel One Touch 535 in their hands. That's not because the Alcatel One Touch 535 is a unique copy, but because the Alcatel One Touch 535 hasn't been launched yet. It is scheduled for summer 2003.
But a lot can already be estimated about what the Alcatel One Touch 535 is going to be like.
The Alcatel One Touch 535 is more or less aimed at starters, but with more extras than usual in that segment.
On the one hand the Alcatel One Touch 535 doesn't seem to be the starter-model in its class, which probably is the simpler Alcatel One Touch 332. On the other hand the Alcatel One Touch 535 certainly can't reach the performance of its multitalented bigger brother, the Alcatel One Touch 735.
Putting it briefly: the Alcatel One Touch 535 seems to be a mixture of a starter phone and a top-performance phone. So, for everyone with a mobile phone identity problem the Alcatel One Touch 535 should be the first choice, because the Alcatel One Touch 535 is a compromise.
Optically the Alcatel One Touch 535 very much resembles the high-class Alcatel One Touch 735, except for the fact that the Alcatel One Touch 535 is available in more colors than only silver.
The Alcatel One Touch 535's high-resolution display with 128 x 128 pixels and 4096 colors is the obvious eye-catcher of the Alcatel One Touch 535. The display of the Alcatel One Touch 535 takes up a large part of the whole device, but there still is enough space left for an easy-to-handle key-pad.
The Alcatel One Touch 535 measures mere 106 x 47 x 20 mm and weighs only 88 g.
The Alcatel One Touch 535 can be especially proud of its innovative design and its new, simplified concept of handling EMS, MMS and SMS.
The included MMS-function of the Alcatel One Touch 535 enables the user to utilize the Alcatel One Touch 535 as a source for information and entertainment. When giving the features a closer look you can find such highlights as VMS (voice-message-service), EMS and class 10 GPRS, which allows data-transfer at turbo-speed.
An infrared-interface rounds off the impressive selection of data-transfer possibilities.
Polyphonic ringer tones, vibratory alarm, games, organizer, alarm clock and calculator are of course included in the Alcatel One Touch 535, along with a hands-free function.
A definite disadvantage of the Alcatel One Touch 535 is its address book with only 100 spaces. Naturally, several numbers can be stored on the SIM-card as well, but a bigger phone book would have been very desirable.
All these features are kept alive by the Li-ion battery of the Alcatel One Touch 535 that has a standby time of 260 hours and talk time of 6,5 hours.
To sum it up: considering its features the Alcatel One Touch 535 is in many ways identical to the Alcatel One Touch 735, except for the digicam. But even this accessory can be added by buying it separately.
The Alcatel One Touch 535 is in balance between the requirements of a call-expert and he possibilities of the new multimedia and entertainment services.
The Alcatel One Touch 535 sounds like a good choice for all undecided customers, since it can be used as a starter's phone as well as an advanced mobile!
You're always on the save side with the Alcatel One Touch 535.
