In the end, deciding for one hand phone model always depends on what you expect from it. For some users it is important that they can use their mobile on the job and exchange data with the pc, others want games and graphics for killing time. Everybody has different demands on what he needs and what he doesn't.
For many users there probably are better models than the Bosch World Com 718. But if you need a mobile that offers you reception no matter where you are, Europe or America, as is the case with me, the Bosch World Com 718 is a very good choice.
Before the Bosch World Com 718 I had a Motorola Timeport, and during my stay in America I sometimes had real trouble with the reception. In urban areas the difference between the Timeport and the Bosch World Com 718 wasn't that big. But in rural areas of Canada and the USA, where the hand phone net isn't so developed, the difference between the Bosch World Com 718 and the Motorola is huge.
While in some areas where I had no reception at all with the Timeport, the Bosch World Com 718 merely had a slightly less good sound quality, but was otherwise unaffected. The Bosch World Com 718 is a model you should get if you really need a tri-band hand phone, otherwise you pay too much.
The Bosch World Com 718 has the standard functions like calculator, currency converter, address book, SMS, etc.....but not much else.
If you want to transfer data or faxes with the Bosch World Com 718, you can do that through a connection with a PC-card. Another detail of the Bosch World Com 718, one that could cause you problems, is the Nimh battery of the Bosch World Com 718, with which you have to be careful with due to the memory-effect.
So if you are a user who is primarily looking for international roaming in a hand phone and can do without a load of features and gadgets, the Bosch World Com 718 is right for you, and of the best in its class.
I especially recommend the Bosch World Com 718 if you have to make frequent business trips to the US.
