Test report and technical data Siemens C30
The Siemens C30 - My introduction to mobile communication!!
Pleasant: good price & battery, small
Unpleasant: screen too small, few features
It's been a year now that I got a mobile phone for my birthday from my husband and my kids. The type they chose was the Siemens C30. Until that point I was the only member of my familiy who did not possess a mobile phone, the reason for that was not that nobody wanted to buy one, I simply did not want to have a mobile phone.
All those last years mankind was able to survive the dreadful everyday life without mobile phones and I did not see any reason at all to be part of the compelled mobile phone-movement of the late 90ies. After receiving a cellular phone as a present I could not possible deny the Siemens C30, since it would have been quite a rude gesture. At that point I started to make use of the Siemens C30 and slowly began liking it...
The Siemens C30 is the first of all mobile phones of the Siemens C-series that has an integrated antenna and due to that the Siemens C30 turns out to be smaller than its predecessors. The precise size of the Siemens C30 is 124x44x24mm. Over and above that the roundish Siemens C30 weigs 110g only, a lot less than the former C-modells. These facts do allow the Siemens C30 to call itself small and handy, which is not only easily stowed, but also quiet robust.
The cover of the Siemens C30 is completely in black, however a screen, which glows in red colour surprises in the design. According to my opinion the red colour on the one side makes the Siemens C30 look very interesting and individual, however on the other side the colour is a bit too flashy so as it almost hurts in the eyes. The screen of the Siemens C30 was built too small as well, it merely covers four lines, making it quite a challenge to perceive objects from a distance.
The keys of the Siemens C30 glimmer in the same colour as the screen, this time the red colour is way more agreeable, since it does not glow as intensive as the screen. Glowing in red colour makes the Siemens C30 look expressive and unique at once, since there are not many other mobile phones that glimmer the same way.
Operating the Siemens C30 was my biggest concern when I got the Siemens C30, I am surely no technical layperson, however I did not want to do much reading in order to be finally capable of making phone calls.
I have to admit, my kids were of quite some help in that field, but I would have as well done quite well without them. The Siemens C30 is very easy to operate, the menu of the Siemens C30 is structure logically and thanks to numerous specific keys one is able to access the most important functions quickly. Those functions are for example the message-composer and the telephone book.
I was really quite surprised of the Siemens C30 at that point, I would have never thought that operating a mobile phone can be that simple, it is almost easier to operate than my cordless phone at home.
For those people who don't only want to make call with the Siemens C30 but use it as toy as well, the Siemens C30 is definaltely the wrong choice. The Siemens C30 is meant to be bought by people who are seeking a mobile phone which is easily operated.
This conclusion is authenticated by the technical equipment of the Dual Band Siemens C30.
The lithium-ion-battery of the Siemens C30 has a maximum standby time of 250 hours and a talk time of almost five hours.
The telephone book of the Siemens C30 holds 100 entries, a standard amount. The same can be said about the messaging functions of the Siemens C30. Numerous different ringing tones can be found in the Siemens C30, which can be extended by own compositions. I have never made use of that function though. The keytones of the Siemens C30 can be chosen by the user as well, enabling the user to personalize the Siemens C30.
In contrast to its predecessors the Siemens C30 now possesses three integrated games and a built-in clock. Further gadgetry, such as an organizer, w@p-function and calculator, is not integrated in the Siemens C30.
I can not be bothered by that since I would not make use of these features anyhow. I rather appreciate other functions/performances, e.g. reception - and sound quality.
Until today my experience with the reception quality of the Siemens C30 has only been of the postive kind. I do make frequent use of the messaging function, since a message often substitutes short telephone calls, and I have never encountered any difficulties with the Siemens C30. This was especially surprising to me, since I never valued such facts, today I am aware of its importance to all mobile phone-users. I appraise a mobile phone with an appropriate reception quality more than all those gadgetries, unlike my kids.
The sound quality of the Siemens C30 is just as good as the reception quality of the Siemens C30. Of course this performance always depends on ones location, however I have not been in a situation when the Siemens C30 completely failed.
The Siemens C30 seriously is the right mobile phone for all those people who value these aspects as much as I do.
It can not be concealed that I did change my attitude towards the use of mobile phones, which is partly a result of me possessing the Siemens C30. I am more than satisfied with my Siemens C30 and it sure was not easy to convince me of the handy side of a mobile phone due to my preload. If I would have gotten another mobile phone for my birthday that was not as easily operated and well-functioning as the Siemens C30, I would not have hesitated a second to put the present aside.
The Siemens C30 convinces due to its quality, its ease of use und plainness, since the function of the Siemens C30 is not negatively affected by any unnecessary extras. That the Siemens C30 does not cost a lot of money sure is as well of some advantage !
