Test report and technical data Siemens S25

The Siemens S25, the origine of the current Siemens S-series

    Siemens S25

Positive: interesting design, clear arranged menu

    Negative: operation of keypad

The Siemens S25 was launched in 1998 and was an absolute money-spinner at that time. I was among all those people who couldn't resist the Siemens S25 and made my first mobile phone-experience with the Siemens S25.

I was fascinated by the Siemens S25 and still stand by the Siemens S25.

The Siemens S25 is available in two different colours, either in silver or dark-blue. Including the size of the antenna, the Siemens S25 has precise dimensions of 14x4,5x2,5 cm, which is not all too much. The weight of 125 g of the Siemens S25 is not too bad either.

For today's needs the antenna surely is of some annoyance, but at that time it was not possible yet to include antennas in the body of the mobile. The Siemens S25 is quiet robust, as long as you don't drop it on its antenna.

The screen of the Siemens S25 is already quite big, since it has the size of five lines, and in addition to that the screen of Siemens S25 already glimmers in several different colours. You can obtain information on time/date, network and battery on the screen of the Siemens S25. The keys of the Siemens S25 are however built a bit too small and it takes more effort to activate a key. This still seems to be a deficiency of many more modern mobile phones though.

The menu of the Siemens S25 is very simple to access and its structure is just the same as in all other Siemens mobile phones. The user is well-guided through the menu and there can be found numerous simplifications in the menu.

For example a key can be found that is meant for direct access of the telephone book, hereby avoiding the scrolling in the wide menu. Several other menu options can as well be access by activating specific digit keys, which digit stands for which option can easily be memorized after a while. This again comes in handy by avoiding to open the main menu.

The lithium-ion-battery of the Siemens S25 is already of vibratory kind and has a stand-by time of approximately 200 hours or a corresponding talk time of five hours.

The telephone book of the Siemens S25 has an integrated voicedialing function. The messaging function of the Siemens S25 is not as highly developed as we are used to today, that's why the Siemens S25 does not cover the T9 text input yet. Only eight messages can be saved in the inbox of the Siemens S25. This performance is not all too impressing in comparison to today's standard, however it shall do for sending and receiving messages. People were not as demanding as they are today back then!

The Siemens S25 features an organizer, with several practical options, such as a calendar, an alarm clock, a planner, a calculator and so forth. In addition to that the Siemens S35 possesses impressing 42 ringing tones and own melodies can even be composed!

The Siemens S25 is already equipped with four games, not to be forgotten its internet functions. Having an integrated modem and an infra-red connection makes an easy data-transfer possible.

The connection with the Siemens S35 was always of excellent quality, I can't recall a moment when the Siemens S25 did not perform to my absolute satisfaction. If not functioning, this was a result of a weak network. The sound quality of the Siemens S25 is just as good, nothing to complain about again.

I did not regret the purchase of the Siemens S25 until today; and ever since having owned the Siemens S25, I consistently stuck to the Siemens S-series. I have to admit, I do not have much of a comparison to other mobile phones, but I do not see any reason at all not to stick to the Siemens S-series.

I hope that my evaluation of the Siemens S25 corresponds with the opinion of other users, yet I can only emphasize the truth of my review and therefore certainly recommend the Siemens S25.
