Good points: MP-3 Player, nice body styling, loads of features
Bad points: slow software, weak battery
Some scum stole my last mobile phone when I was away on a business trip. The hotel I stayed in should've been liable for my loss but customer service does not seem to be what it used to be. I didn't have any other option than to buy a new mobile. I went for the Siemens S42 which I've owned for a while by now. Choosing a Siemens was purely a result of previous good experience with their products. Hopefully you guys'll be satisfied with my report and my evaluation of the Siemens S42.
The Siemens SL42 has so much to offer and in addition to that the Siemens SL42 performs to my most utter satisfaction. Featuring wonderful extras and combining those with an extraordinary performance allows me fully praise the Siemens SL42.
The Siemens SL42 has an impressing design even though it does not possess an integrated antenna yet. It's completely covered in silver and its screen is exceptionally big since it covers seven lines. The Siemens SL42 merely weighs 88 g and has precise dimensions of 105x42x17 mm. I was really astonished when I saw the Siemens SL42 for the first time, its design is just so very unique and appealing so as it can surely not be forgotten. In connection to the design of the Siemens SL42 I can only complain about one single thing, its keys. For my taste the keys are too small, which might however be my very personal impression since I do have problems activating the keys with my rather cloddish fingers. Women with their long, thin fingers should be all the happier with the Siemens SL42 in regard to its keys.
Believe me, any Tom, Dick or Harry can cope with the Siemens SL42! Accessing the Siemens is like a walk in the park! Please believe me despite of the many features of the Siemens SL42, I guess it does not sound all too convincing that the Siemens SL42 is so easily operated, but it's true! It is quite an achievement indeed what the technicians in good-old Germany managed to do in terms of ease of use, I guess they don't only know how to build technical devices, but as well think logically when they do so and put themselves in the position of a not too talented user. Well done, krauts!
Then again when talking about the technical know-how of the Siemens SL42 'Made in Germany' does pay off very well again. Believe me, if you are particularly lookingf or a reliable, always functioning mobile, you should get a Siemens, even better, the Siemens SL42.
The reception with the Siemens SL42 kicks ass, people tend to ask me to use my Siemens SL42 when their mobiles have long given in! I have absolutely no clue what is so different about the technology of the Siemens SL42 but it is just so much better than what other mobiles have, even in terms of sound quality. The sound is perfect with the Siemens SL42, especially when you use its headphones. When using the headphones of the Siemens SL42 you seem to hear voices in your head, Dolby Surround Sound is the only sound quality I could think about when looking for a comparable sound.
Regrettably there is one big error in the software of the Siemens SL42. The user is frequented with a weird card error and a sudden crash of the software of the Siemens SL42 which can really be of quite some annoyance! This is really kinda sad, since it spoils the nice picture of the Siemens SL42. I have tried to heal my Siemens SL42 with a software update, didn't really help though, after a short while the card error paid me a visit again.
The technical data of the Siemens SL42 then again is very, very nice!!! Features, features and again features!! All those features of the Siemens SL42 combined with its basic performance is really astonishing, if only the battery of the Siemens SL42 was stronger.
The Siemens SL42 has a lithium-ion-battery, which is good, which is a vibratory alert, nice again, however this battery has a sad stand-by time of 170 hours only! This is of special damage to the MP-3 Player! The MP-3 function needs a lot of energy, thus the battery of the Siemens SL42 is almost empty after only about 30 min of listening to music. Bringing along the charger of the Siemens SL42, no matter where you go, might help!
Apart from that the MP-3 Player is really wicked feature! I download new songs almost daily, about five songs fit on the Multimedia-Card of the Siemens SL42.
This Multimedia-Card does come in quite handy for many other functions as well.
Among these are the messaging function and the telephone book. Not only is SMS messaging a breeze with T9 input of the Siemens SL42 but the Siemens SL42 can also save a hundred messages in an archive due to its Multimedia-Card!
The telephone book is also positively affected by this since 500 entries can be saved on the Siemens SL42, which can also be adjusted with extensive addresses and other details concerning the entries. Voicedialling is of course as well possible.
Games, Organizer, composing melodies, numerous ringer tones, pictures, infrared, internet are all part of the Siemens SL42. Many of those features speak for themselves, I only gotta get into some details of the internet function of the Siemens SL42.
The Siemens SL42 is equipped with the w@p-software which makes a comparable fast data transfer possible. The infrared connection is of some help as well, thus the Siemens SL42 can transfer and receive data from and to computers, palms, other mobiles and the Siemens SL42 can be synchronized with MS Outlook which comes in handy for editing e-mails.
...respect! A lot of features, which are not only innovative but also well-functioning! I guess technology should just be left to the Germans...
I would want to dedicate my article to the nasty person that stole my former mobile...maybe it was a sign form above. I would be kinda pissed from today's point of view if I'd still agonize myself with another mobile than the Siemens SL42. Not only can I make phone calls with the Siemens SL42 and send messages, but I can even use my new mobile as a mobile entertainment station, a very nice side-effect that surely nobody minds! One just shouldn't worry about the software error, it's not too serious.
