Test report and technical data Siemens SL45i
The five star + L device of all mobile phones, the Siemens SL45i!
Advantages: very good internet functionality, value for money
Disadvantages: keypad
I am a devotee of the mobile phone-era ever since it began in the 90ies. As can be predicted, I do have quiet some ideas about a well-functioning mobile. I discovered the Siemens SL45i one night when I surfed the net long before it was launched and I already decided to get the Siemens SL45i in that particular night.
A well-thought through decision...Some of you might already be familiar with the Siemens SL45i, which is not all too surprising since the Siemens SL45i has the very same body as its 'small brother', the rather simple Siemens S45.
The Siemens SL45i is a very noble device and the Siemens SL45i is only available in one single colour, 'Royal Champagne', hereby underlining its exclusive character. The Siemens SL45i is a very small and handy thing with dimensions of 109x46x20 mm and a weight of 93 g.
The Siemens SL45i has a very big display which is quiet beneficial when using the internet function of the Siemens SL45i. The yellow-glowing display of the Siemens SL45i covers entire seven lines which allow displaying numerous symbols on the screen since there is enough space anyhow.
According to my experience the Siemens SL45i is easily operated, I might be used to operating mobiles better than other people are since those things simply are one of my passions in life. However the average user should also be able to handle the Siemens SL45i since the outline of the menu of the Siemens SL45i is very clear and well-structured. If you stick to the user advice, then accessing the Siemens SL45i should be learned quickly. Over and above that are navigation key and two quicklinks help activating numerous functions briskly and easily.
Now the technical side of the Siemens SL45i, the more important and interesting part about the Dual Band Siemens SL45i. One shall now be able to differentiate the Siemens SL45i from the Siemens S45. First of all, the battery performance. The Siemens SL45i possesses a very strong battery which is regardless of all technical gadgetries still the most important thing about a mobile phone.
The lithium-ion-battery of the Siemens SL45i is a vibration alert with a stand-by time of up to 300 hours and an according talk time of about six hours.
Before I get into the details about the essential differences between the Siemens SL45i and its predecessor, some other basic functions are to be mentioned.
The Siemens SL45i is equipped with an up-to-date messaging function that allows to write messages with a length of 760 characters and there is an archive on the Siemens SL45i that can apparently save messages to an indefinable extent. When composing messages one is of course assisted by a T9 text construction software.
The telephone book of the Siemens SL45i holds a maximum of 500 numbers, those can not only be arranged by groups but can also be saved with the precise address of each individual. There is also a voicedialling function in the Siemens SL45i which can be used for 20 entries only.
Furthermore the Siemens SL45i possesses numerous ringer tones, which can be accumulated with own compositions and may also be downloaded from the net.
The organizer of the Siemens SL45i is equipped with all common business tools, such as calendar, alarm clock, planner, notebook, calculator and so on.
Now finally the part where the Siemens SL45i can triumph over his 'lil bro', its internet functions. The Siemens SL45i is internet-capable to an enormous extent and therefore it is equipped with a built-in fax and data modem which has a transfer rate from up to 14,4 kbps. Thus it is absolutely no problem to write, send and receive e-mails with the Siemens SL45i which is even made easier by adding an E-mail Client to the features of the Siemens SL45i, up to five e-mail accounts can be installed on the Siemens SL45i due to that feature. By installing a special extension program the E-mail Client even functions faster and more comfortable in terms of synchronising data. The Siemens SL45i is absolutely recommendable to all those people who are constantly on the move but want to access the internet in a proper way, no matter where they are.
As nice as these functions are, I have to be fair and mention, that using the internet function is enormously expensive!
What would we do with a mobile that neither has a proper reception nor proper sound quality? ...nothing!
The Siemens SL45i however is well armed to prevent a bad performance in that field, the above mentioned factors are nearly perfect with the Siemens SL45i. I have always had a brilliant reception, no matter where I was. The sound of the Siemens SL45i is just as good as its reception, it's completely clear.
I am most apparently very satisfied and impressed of the functionality of the Siemens SL45i. I really do know a lot about mobile phones, since it is a hobby of mine, and I am not aware of any other mobile on the market that would function as good as the Siemens SL45i. In addition to that the SiemenSL 45i triumphs with its value for money. I would have indeed been willing to even pay more for the Siemens SL45i, since it's simply worth it. Am sure the simpler Siemens S45 is not too bad either, but why not pay a little more if you can get a phone like the Siemens SL45i!
