Test report and technical data Ericsson T66
The Ericsson T66 - a mini mobile!
Plus of the Ericsson T66: very small, very lightweight
Minus of the Ericsson T66: difficult to use for big hands
The Ericsson T66 comes in an elegant package; headset, charger and manual are provided. I have only one explanation for the headset: to prevent losing the Ericsson T66 in your ear, because it's very small.
The size of the Ericsson T66 is exactly the same as a credit card, but thicker of course. Considering this the display of the Ericsson T66 is really big, and is clearly readable in the dark, because the keypad of the Ericsson T66 is illuminated, as well as in bright light.
The Ericsson T66 is a tri-band mobile phone and can therefore also be used in the USA. Regarding the size the Ericsson T66 has a powerful vibratory alarm that you wouldn't expect from the Ericsson T66. New about the Ericsson T66 is the option of changing the message tone also, and not being stuck with the standard. With the ringer tones of the Ericsson T66 you have a choice of 10 standard and 8 self-composed melodies.
Although you might think that due to the size of the mini Ericsson T66 the keypad is difficult to use, it is actually not. The keys of the Ericsson T66 are easy to use because the space between the keys is quite big and they are far apart.
Also writing SMS with the Ericsson T66 is no big effort, even if you have thick fingers, like me. Due to its size and weight of only 66g the Ericsson T66 is very handy and can really fit in any pocket.
The address book of the Ericsson T66 can store and manage up to 250 numbers. The SMS function of the Ericsson T66 allows you to write and send messages of max. 456 characters, store 40 SMS and has an integrated SMS chat. The only thing I have to criticize about the SMS function of the Ericsson T66 is that outgoing messages are automatically saved and clog the memory quickly.
The calendar of the Ericsson T66 is clearly structured, and the menu includes functions such as alarm clock, stop clock, time with timer, calculator, pictures for SMS/EMS and games. The text-input assistance software T9 of the Ericsson T66 is finally fast enough to really help writing texts on the Ericsson T66 instead of hindering it.
The Ericsson T66 only has regular GSM WAP, without acceleration, but I don't need that anyway.
The standby time of 100 hours and a talk time of 3 hours are pretty competitive, considering the size of the Ericsson T66.
Anybody looking for a small, practical and well-styled mobile phone that has all the major features will make a good choice with the Ericsson T66.
I'm very happy with the Ericsson T66, and I’m not getting tired of looking at the Ericsson T66.
