Test report and technical data LG Electronics LG U8100
LG Electronics LG U8100 -The Generation-Next from LG
Plus of the LG U8100: camera, UMTS, multimedia player, data transfer capable
Minus of the LG U8100: Athena, batterie
UMTS is the first thing that comes to your mind when you think of the LG U8100. UMTS could stand for "U Make Things Sensational" with the LG U8100, well, actually "U Make Things even more Sensational", since the LG U8100 is almost identical, except for the battery and the color display. The specification UMTS indicates the data transfer capabilities of the LG U8100, but these are as sensational as the abbreviation UMTS suggests. UMTS alone isn’t' enough of course, but don't worry, the LG U8100 comes off well in every other aspect, too.
The LG U8100 isn't a Third-Generation mobile from LG without a reason.
With a short glance you wouldn't believe that the LG U8100 can do that much. The typical foldable mobile phone design suggests only typical features, but that’s not the case with the LG U8100. The LG U8100 is available in elegant silver but also in red and blue, whereas the design is unspectacular. The displays are situated inside as well as outside of the LG U8100, with the outer one being much smaller than the inner one. The only upgrade from the LG U8100 is that the outer display is now also in color.
The 7-line display on the inside of the LG U8100 is of the highest standard, it shines in 65.000 colors and 128 x 169 pixels. Pictures and photos are a must-see on this display.
So it's no big surprise that the LG U8100 has an integrated camera, whose photos are optimally shown on the screen of the LG U8100. Furthermore the short videos can be recorded with the camera of the LG U8100 and displayed with the integrated Multimedia Player.
When it comes to design and size the LG U8100 is only average, the measurements of 95,7 x 49,5 x 22,4 mm and the weight of 120g were topped by UMTS mobiles from other manufacturers.
It's a similar situation with the battery of the LG Electronics LG U8100, which has a standby time of 200 hours and a talk time of two lousy hours. So no world shaking innovation in this field by LG Electronics.
Incoming calls to the LG U8100 will be announced by a polyphonic ringer tone and vibratory alarm.
The address book of the LG U8100 has room for 200 detailed entries. Regarding SMS, what's worth mentioning is that you can send them group wise with the LG U8100 and creating them is supported by text input assistance software.
The LG U8100 is a data transfer expert, as proven by its extensive features in that field. WAP-browser, Bluetooth, IrDA, GPRS class 10, MMS, USB-connection to a PC and video-conference are evidence for the qualities of the LG U8100.
The Multimedia Player mentioned above can play MP3, MPEG4 and AAC in addition to videos.
Features like an organizer, wallpapers, games, dictaphone and calculator don't even stand out from the LG U8100's other more impressive functions.
The LG U8100 "makes things sensational", no doubt. The LG U8100 is optimally equipped for every possible situation, and if you wouldn't have to charge the LG U8100 so often I don't know what else I could criticize about the LG U8100. The LG U8100 will fit into my pockets for sure, and if it doesn't I will make it fit, the LG U8100 really is worth the trouble! But that LG hasn't really improved the battery performance of the LG U8100 is a real drawback!
