Sagem launched a practical telephone and mobile phone in one for the European market with the Sagem DMC 10-830.
The idea is great, but the realization is bad. Especially the software of the Sagem DMC 10-830 is miserable.
The really new thing on the Sagem DMC 10-830 is that: the Sagem DMC 10-830 recognizes (artificial intelligence is saying hello!) automatically whether you are at home in the area of the DECT-reception station or out of this area. The Sagem DMC 10-830 is connecting you with the right network on its own. The DECT-reception ranges up to 50 meters indoor and up to 100 meters outdoor.
Unfortunately this feature on the Sagem DMC 10-830 doesn't work at all. Sometimes the Sagem DMC 10-830 is loosing its connection to the DECT station and you're phoning via the mobile although you're at home. Definitely a software error.
But the Sagem DMC 10-830 has a clear display with a nice subtle blue illumination and is easy to read. The display consists of four lines. The programmable buttons on the Sagem DMC 10-830 next to the screen allow you to set up some useful one touch features to suite your usage. I have "call voicemail" and "read messages" on the menu of my Sagem DMC 10-830.
Charging the Sagem DMC 10-830 takes an amazingly short time (compared with the Nokias I used to have). You can easily get a fully charged battery on the Sagem DMC 10-830 after 1-2 hours and enough to last the day in 20 min. By the way, it's a NiMH-battery that the Sagem DMC 10-830 comes with, which seems to be very good.
The Sagem DMC 10-830 weighs about 150 g and with its dimensions of 132 x 50x 26 mm the Sagem DMC 10-830 is quite handy. The first impression of the Sagem DMC 10-830 is quite amazing; the keys of the Sagem DMC 10-830 are ergonomically designed. The Sagem DMC 10-830 is a robust mobile phone.
