The exclusive UMTS mobile phone SonyEricsson Z1010 has been presented to the world in the exclusive location Cannes in France just a short while ago. Precisely Cannes because it not only indicates the future clientele of the SonyEricsson Z1010, but because Cannes is the only place in the world, that allows the use of UMTS- mobiles so far due to its well-developed network services.
The small SonyEricsson Z1010 is not for sale yet, we will still have to wait until the third quarter of 2003. The nice thing about the SonyEricsson Z1010 is, that it not only values its functionality but also its elegant design.
During the last couple of years SonyEricsson always lagged behind its many competitors in the spheres of UMTS-mobiles. But apparently that time has been well used in order to develop a UMTS-mobile like the SonyEricsson Z1010, that not only fulfils UMTS-functions, but even depicts something for the eye and a small pocket.
The SonyEricsson Z1010 is a fold-up mobile and therefore the SonyEricsson Z1010 is a great deal smaller than its many voluminous precursors. The SonyEricsson Z1010 is a DualMode device with UMTS (64 kbit/s) and GSM/GPRS (4+2).
Although it is not to be missed that the SonyEricsson Z1010 is a bit too big for a classic fold-up mobile of our time, the SonyEricsson Z1010 is in any case way handier and more practical than all the other UMTS-models currently available. Above all the many UMTS-functions must find accommodation in the SonyEricsson Z1010.
However I still don't know the exact dimensions and the weight of the SonyEricsson Z1010, since the info on that has not been handed out so far, but it is to be believed that SonyEricsson Z1010 is not going to be the smallest device of his class.
But the SonyEricsson Z1010 is equipped with extraordinary features and functions. That's why the SonyEricsson Z1010 doesn't only feature one display and one camera, but both twice! The external display of the SonyEricsson Z1010 serves to give info on the status of the mobile phone, whereas the internal displays has to handle a lot more than that. In order to do so, the internal display of the SonyEricsson Z1010 is by far better equipped than the external display. The internal display of the SonyEricsson Z1010 is a colour-display with 65.000 colour-variations and a resolution of 176 x 200 Pixel.
Regarding the camera of the SonyEricsson Z1010 another difference can be made out, since there again is an internal as well as an external camera to be found. The external camera serves for taking pictures and recording video sequences, whereas the internal camera is in charge of making video-conferences possible.
The SonyEricsson Z1010 is as well equipped with a multimedia-player, which supports numerous formats, such as: MPEG4, ACC, AMR, MP3, a/v and H.263.
The messaging functions of the SonyEricsson Z1010 are as extensive as they can be. The SonyEricsson Z1010 can handle SMS, EMS, MMS, Video-MMS without the slightest bit of a problem.
Polyphonic ringer tones and WAP-browser with the SonyEricsson Z1010 do not need all too much emphasis .
Now something more interesting about the SonyEricsson Z1010, the data transferring performance of the SonyEricsson Z1010, which deserves the greatest focus of UMTS-mobiles. The SonyEricsson Z1010 is entirely compatible with the java-technology and of course as well bluetooth is covered by the SonyEricsson Z1010. Connecting the SonyEricsson Z1010 with a PC is hereby made most easy. In addition to that there are still an IrDA- and a USB-interface to be found on the SonyEricsson Z1010. The best thing about the data performance of the SonyEricsson Z1010 however is, that the SonyEricsson Z1010 features the renowned Sony Memory Stick. This Memory Stick of the SonyEricsson Z1010 is not only user-defined expandable, but can as well be accessed from other PDAs.
Regrettably I can't report much more than that on the SonyEricsson Z1010, since the greatest part of data-info on the SonyEricsson Z1010 is still kept secret. Further tests and analysis of the SonyEricsson Z1010 were not possible, so I guess the only thing we can do is wait and see until we can buy the SonyEricsson Z1010 in every shop. Then we may entirely disassemble the SonyEricsson Z1010. I think it is safer not to draw a precise conclusion of the functionality and the performance of the SonyEricsson Z1010 already now, but to wait until we know more about the SonyEricsson Z1010.
The current stage of affairs however allows to hope for quite something!
