Test report and technical data Trium Eclipse
Trium Eclipse - colorful fun!
Pros of Trium Eclipse: many features, great technology, polyphone ringing tones, color screen with 256 colors, solid
Cons of Trium Eclipse: no MMS, weak battery
It is about time for a new test review. Since I work for T-Mobile's promoting team, I am able to borrow all kinds of cell phones and try them out.
Right now, Trium Eclipse is lying next to me. Thinking of Trium, one usually is reminded of the rather cheap models Neptune and Mars that did not become famous because they were so great!
Fortunately, Trium Eclipse is different. Next to Ericsson T68, Trium Eclipse is the first mobile to feature polyphonic ringing tones and a color screen. The design of Trium Eclipse is ergonomically, meaning there are no corners or edges, which makes Trium Eclipse really handy. The mobile's keypad is well arranged. Trium Eclipse only weighs 109 g at a size of 139 x 48 x 29 mm. It appears a little bold but that does not affect me. 256 different colors and a high resolution of 120 x 143 pixels make it fun to look at Trium Eclipse's screen. The antenna of Trium Eclipse is external, but matches the overall design well. The designers of Trium Eclipse really did a good job!
Navigating through the menu of Trium Eclipse is made possible by key switches and a little wheel on one side of the device. These buttons serve the following purposes: The volume can be adjusted and ringing tones and the vibratory alert can be (de)activated. Some features in the menu can only be reached via the keypad of Trium Eclipse, but after a short period of accommodation, handling Trium Eclipse will not be difficult at all anymore.
Trium Eclipse can do a lot and it would take too long to state them all, so in the following, I will stick to Trium Eclipse's highlights.
The memory capacity of Trium Eclipse's phone book provides space for 250 entries; each entry allows the saving of four phone numbers, address and e-mail address.
Trium Eclipse's organizer makes any palm dispensable. It features different calendar views and to-do-lists. All of the above in color!
Next to the color screen, the polyphonic ringing tones deserve to be mentioned.
Also, one will never get bored with Trium Eclipse's games, since one can adjust them to a higher level when it starts getting to easy. The games featured on Trium Eclipse are Rayman, Bowling and Rayman Garden. And so colorful!
Functions like vibratory alert, infra red interface, voice dial, calculators, T9, hands free talking, GPRS and WAP browser are standards and do not need talking about them. It is obvious that Trium Eclipse features all of the above.
If Trium Eclipse only provided MMS, one could call it the best cell phone on the market at the moment. Unfortunately, Trium Eclipse is lacking this application.
The battery of Trium Eclipse is average. It will last about 180 hours in stand - by mode and three hours when you are actually talking.
The reception quality of Trium Eclipse deserves praise. There are no problems with it no matter whether you are abroad or out in the country. Also, Trium Eclipse's sound quality is great. No noise will disrupt the connection.
Although Trium Eclipse does not feature MMS, I could not think of a better mobile phone. Trium Eclipse beats its competitor Ericsson T68 by far, since the software of the latter tends to create problems. Furthermore, Trium Eclipse simply looks better. It is somewhat sad that Trium has got such a bad reputation due to earlier, inferior products. But with Trium Eclipse, Mitsubishi made up a lot.
