Test report and technical data Motorola E380
Motorola E380: Asian, futuristic, funky
Pros: large selection of entertainment functions, color screen
Cons: no infrared-interface
Await the third quarter of 2003: That is when the new Motorola E380 will hit the market!
I am one of the few who were allowed to check out Motorola E380 beforehand. I received this honor when I visited an exclusive Asian high tech exhibition. Amongst others, Motorola E380 was presented there. It really impressed me. Here is why:
Motorola E380 was designed primarily for the Asian market and, resulting from this, is mainly purchased there. The 'Asian' Motorola E380's target group is modern young people. Thus, its costs are settled in the average price range.
Motorola E380 is still quite professional, don't worry! The Asian understanding of a 'professional/business mobile' differs widely from the European understanding. Motorola E380 is the proof.
At first, the screen of Motorola E 380 is eye catching. To fully experience all of Motorola E380's colors, one has to unfold it first. Its flap is made out of a see-through material, so one can always see the screen and the keys shine through. This enables the user to view the screen without unfolding the phone - Motorola E380 is very innovative, as one can tell.
Motorola E380's big screen features 4,096 colors and a high resolution.
On first sight Motorola E380 will appear quite conservatively silver, but looking at it closer will reveal a lot more colors than expected. Color in general plays a major role for Motorola E380.
The design of Motorola E380 beats anything!
Esthetics, individuality and attractiveness blend together beautifully. I am quite a critical person when it comes to looks, but Motorola E380 really convinced me here.
The color display is especially apt for MMS and visualizes nicely the Java applications of Motorola E380.
As mentioned above, Motorola E380 is aiming for a younger target group, accordingly are its features arranged. Polyphone ringing tones and a special vibration alert (that vibrates in the rhythm of the ringing tone) are standardized. More interesting are the games, since Motorola E380 is pretty much a game station. Some Java games are already installed on Motorola E380 and due to its J2ME compatibility, more games can easily be downloaded from the net.
But do not only focus on these playful features, because Motorola E380 features a lot more. Games and playful functions alone would not impress me much.
Motorola E380 is a GPRS device and features a W@P browser, which allows a perfect transfer of data between Motorola E380 and the net. Very nice are the fully compatible MS applications that can be dubbed easily on a PC.
What I really like about Motorola E380 is its excellence concerning technical matters and features, although it claims to be an entertaining device. Motorola E380 runs professionally.
All in all, Motorola E380 is the perfect combination of functionality and play drive. Beware, playing around with Motorola E380 is totally addicting!
